Buchanan feels the Blues’ performance was superior to Rotherham’s.

Blues looked dangerous in patches of the Sky Bet Championship match and started particularly brightly at St. Andrew’s, but were unable to carry this through the entire 90 minutes.

This meant Wayne Rooney’s side had to settle for a point and despite the Men’s First Team now being three unbeaten in B9, there was a feeling that more was for the taking versus the Millers.

Speaking to BluesTV post-match, Buchanan assessed the encounter and how Birmingham City failed to kick on in their first outing of seven this December.

“I thought the first 15-20 minutes we started well. Then Ethan goes off and for some reason, we stop playing. We got dragged into their game and were moving it too slowly.

“The players and the team we have got, we are a lot better than that. It leaves us and the fans frustrated.”

After a third fixture in eight days, Blues have a greater lead time up to their next league contest, visiting Coventry City on Friday 8 December, kick-off 8pm.

Buchanan talked about how preparations can be maximised during this period to ensure everyone is ready for the short trip down the M6.

“We have got a full week of training next week, so we will work on what we have to do. We have got to stick to our game and not think about the opposition and put it all together.

“Like you have seen in the last three games, we make changes, and it is important that we use the squad because you never know who is going to get injured. When it is your chance to play you have to be ready.”
