Birmingham City promised a massive transfer price to Knighthead following Tony Mowbray’s commitment.

Jordan James was the subject of three bids from Birmingham City during the January transfer window.

“My conversation points with the owners would be that I believe he will only get better and be worth a lot more under our tutelage.”

Given that Jordan James’ transfer value is limited, Tony Mowbray was content for him to stay at Birmingham City in January. The teams that expressed interest in James, particularly Atalanta of Italy, may come to regret not pressing Blues’ determination.

For the majority of the window, it appeared like a deal could be reached for a reasonable price, but Atalanta’s offers were laughably low, and the Blues rejected them. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace were among the other interested parties who refrained from entering negotiations.

Perhaps in the summertime. Dougie Freedman, the sporting director of Crystal Palace, witnessed James’ goal for the Blues against Sunderland. Instead, in January, they gave priority to a £22 million trade for Adam Wharton.

In fact, Mowbray brought up Palace’s acquisition of Wharton when considering James’ actual worth. Despite being five months Wharton’s junior, James has participated in more Championship-level games and has established himself as a mainstay on the senior international scene for Wales.

The goals are the most obvious distinction between James and Wharton’s statistics, which explains why the Blues are justified in demanding a comparable amount of money. While Wharton scored four goals in 44 Blackburn second-tier games, James has scored seven goals in 30 Championship games this season, just 16 of which have been starts.
