Alex Pritchard, a transfer target for Birmingham City, is allegedly not impressed by the terms of the new deal that Sunderland is offering, thus it is highly doubtful that he will take them.

Despite Sunderland’s best efforts to extend Pritchard’s contract, The Sunderland Echo, one of our sister sites, writes that his future is uncertain. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has acknowledged that a contract has been extended, but Pritchard has not accepted and is reportedly not likely to.

This development will have Birmingham salivating, as Tony Mowbray has Pritchard as a top target. The new boss of the Blues is well-aware of what to anticipate having worked closely with the playmaker during his whole tenure at the Stadium of Light.

But Bluenoses shouldn’t get too enthusiastic too soon, as Pritchard has made it clear that he still wants to stay at Sunderland. That’s a huge gain for Birmingham, however it remains to be seen if the Black Cats provide more palatable terms.

With his birthday falling in May, Pritchard, 31, has only used 44% of the minutes that have been allotted to him in the Sky Bet Championship thus far. It might only take a larger game schedule to persuade the midfield player to transfer to St Andrew’s. Nevertheless, he has so far played a crucial role in Michael Beale’s ambitions.

Teams from the Turkish Süper Lig and Major League Soccer (MLS) are also interested in joining the Blues. Since Pritchard’s Sunderland contract ends in June, any new team that signs him would be getting a freebie.
