Ange Postecoglou speaks out as Chris Davies quits Spurs to become Birmingham City boss

The man Chris Davies is replacing as Birmingham City manager has given him a hearty recommendation.

The Watford-born Welshman pleased Birmingham chairman Tom Wagner, chief executive Garry Cook, and minority owner Tom Brady during his discussions, and he ultimately inked a four-year contract at St Andrew’s to take on his first managerial post.

Davies, a former player for Swansea, Liverpool, Celtic, and Leicester, leaves Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Tottenham after just one season.

Having declined Swansea’s offer to join in December, the 39-year-old is now beginning his managerial career.

Additionally, Postecoglou stated: “It’s no surprise to me that a club of Birmingham City’s calibre has shown an interest in Chris because he’s an amazing individual who’s done some fantastic work with us in the last season and as I’ve said before, that will attract attention.”

“We wish Chris all the best and would like to thank him for all of his hard work.”

In response to his hiring, Davies stated, “I am honoured and proud to be Birmingham City’s manager.”

“It was immediately evident to me, after speaking with Tom, Garry, Tom Brady, and other board members, how devoted and passionate the board and the entire football leadership team are about making this club successful.

“My goal is to create a team that our fans can be proud of, and I will stop at nothing to build an attacking team that honours this wonderful city.”
