Lukas Jutkiewicz hopes the new Birmingham City manager spotted something at Hull

In an effort to help the Blues turn around their season, Lukas Jutkiewicz hopes that the new manager who will be joining Birmingham City this week witnessed the FA Cup encounter at Hull City on Saturday and saw something to build with. At the MKM Stadium, Jutkiewicz opened the score with a signature header to give the Blues the lead. However, Matt Jacob’s late goal forced a replay.

It was Blues’ first game after Wayne Rooney was fired a week prior, and thanks to Steve Spooner’s appointment as interim manager, there were many positive attributes on display. These included discipline, dedication to the cause, and hard work outside of the ball. So, despite the late disappointment of the equalizer, there was plenty to learn.

Jutkiewicz, who joined the team in 2016 and under Gary Rowett, will be welcoming his eleventh permanent manager to St Andrew’s in less than seven years. He acknowledges that Blues were unworthy during Rooney’s disastrous tenure, but he does hope the new manager, who is anticipated to be Tony Mowbray this week, will be encouraged by the results up north.

“We can’t hide away from the fact that the last however many games haven’t been good enough and that’s why where we are, but it’s about showing resilience and character and that’s important to help us get out of a tough situation,” Jutkiewicz stated. “It remains the same no matter who the manager is. My assumption is that he has observed this game and will find anything to construct one of these

“The group put on a fantastic performance that was tenacious, full of character, and demonstrated a strong work ethic. It was crucial that we completed our assignment with great diligence and discipline. During a period of transition at a football team, it’s important to unite and establish shared objectives, which is exactly what we accomplished. It all comes down to professionalism.

“You need to be flexible. Football is a sport where change happens swiftly. You must act in a professional manner. The group needs to pull together and present itself in the best possible light, regardless of who is in control. We had discussed putting on a performance that they would be proud of, represent their beliefs, and represent the ideals the club has. The incredible traveling support we have was on display again at Hull.”

Under Rooney, Blues, who were in the play-off spots in October toward the conclusion of John Eustace’s rule, only won two of their fifteen games. Just after Christmas, they pulled off a goalless draw in his last game for St Andrew’s, but the 3-0 loss against Leeds United on New Year’s Day proved to be the breaking point for Knighthead.

With the January transfer market open and Rooney’s successor having the ability to address the Blues squad should he so want, Jutkiewicz has now supported the club’s owners and decision-makers to make the right choice immediately.

Jutkiewicz continued, “turbulent is one word,” considering the last few months. You must make an effort to be flexible, ensure that you are speaking for yourself first, and uphold the principles that the club holds dear. It’s never easy, but you have to be professional and make sure you can say you’re doing your part first.

“The club requires stability and someone with the necessary time to expand on its amazing fan base, outstanding club, and extremely ambitious proprietors. I hope we can achieve such stability. When the new manager takes over, which should happen this week, we should be able to enjoy a successful and stable period of time. I’m sure the people in charge of making decisions will make the appropriate ones.”
