Report: It’s unlikely that the much-maligned

According to a source, one heavily criticized head coach in the NFL does not seem to be in hot water after all.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Arthur Smith, the coach of the Atlanta Falcons, is expected to keep his job. According to Fowler, Smith would practically need to have a late-season meltdown to be in danger of losing his job.

Smith is in his third season with the Falcons, and some have found the team’s lack of development this year to be discouraging. He has also drawn criticism for his offensive skill players’ usage, especially for the way he has used star rookie running back Bijan Robinson.

Smith has the Falcons at 6-7 this year, and they are still in the midst of the playoff chase in a very weak NFC South after two seasons of 7-10 play. All of it might be sufficient in the end to guarantee him a second season.
