NFL insider doubles down on Falcons being aggressive to trade up in draft

The Falcons’ brass is probably chatting with other executives as the NFL Combine gets underway this week to discuss the possibility of trading up in the NFL draft.

According to statements made last week by Steve Wyche and Daniel Jeremiah, Terry Fontenot is expected to be active in moving players up the board.Wyche reiterated his position on Monday, telling Bell and Dukes of 92.9 The Game that he had received word that the Falcons will really be active in selecting their quarterback.

The Bears, Commanders, and Patriots, who have the first picks in the draft, instantly come to mind. Many predict that Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels will be selected in whichever order as the first three picks.

But Peter King revealed this gem in his last column: “I guess the Bears are likely to trade the #1 selection. Although I’m not knowledgeable, it appears that’s how the wind is blowing.

King went on to clarify that he thought Chicago would trade down to the No. 2 pick in Washington and then again to the No. 8 pick in Atlanta, trading down twice, even if it wasn’t a report.

That would put the Falcons in a position to select a top quarterback prospect in the draft. It would be anticipated that Atlanta would have to choose between Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels, with Caleb Williams continuing to go first.

Many would then wonder how much it would cost. To begin with, it would entail a player and two first-round picks, which is the same deal the Bears obtained from the Panthers for the top pick in the previous round.

Raheem Morris’s hire by the Falcons was overwhelmingly well-received. Several of the top figures in the game, like Les Snead, Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan, Mike Tomlin, and Jalen Ramsey, were happy to see the hire.
