Mike Florio doubles down on recent reporting and reveals Julie and Kirk Cousins as his sources.

A wonderful moment to be alive. In addition to self-driving vehicles and grocery delivery robots, professional sports has grown to such a massive industry that, as a sports fan, you never truly know what you’re going to wake up to every day.

Around the same time this morning, local insider Darren Wolfson was debunking a Monday rumor from Mike Florio (ProFootballTalk) that said Cousins was getting ready to move to Atlanta on the Mackey & Judd Show (SKOR North).

In the meantime, Florio was virtually admitting (with a giddy smile) to his listeners on his own PFT podcast that Kirk Cousins and/or his wife Julie are probably the source of the information he has recently shared about his cousins. Florio asserts that he is basing a portion of his reporting, albeit speculatively, on discussions he overheard at the Super Bowl between “Mrs. Florio” and “Mrs. Cousins.”

It’s never over until it’s over, so the Vikings might call it quits, wake up from this delusional dream, and accept that Kirk Cousins will, in fact, find better elsewhere—but it might already be too late. I had the opportunity to listen in on Mrs. Cousins’ and Mrs. Florio’s conversation during our time with Kirk cousins on the Super Bowl set. Mrs. Cousins didn’t say anything conclusive, but I got the impression that the conversation was about why we were waiting so long for the Vikings to fulfill their stated desire.

“You had your chance, the other team in Atlanta, by the way, where Cousins’ wife grew up and her parents still live, they’re coming after us,” eventually says the human being [in you]. You’re not; you’re distant and reticent. You’re defying us by asking us to look for another deal. Alright, let’s do that. That’s the chance you accept.

Put another way, it becomes increasingly likely that Mackey, Judd, and Doogie struck the mark this morning when they expressed a strong belief that Florio is receiving false information from a member of the Cousins camp. And after seeing this video, I think that someone is definitely Kirk and Julie.

Furthermore, I don’t think that this material was all released during Super Bowl week. Are you joking with me? It happened one month ago. Do you really think that, a month ago, Florio would not have been shouting that information from the rooftops? Come on, please.

From there, Florio expands on his claim from yesterday by providing more detailed EXAMPLES (albeit these are undoubtedly not the actual things he talked with Kirk and/or his wife—wink, wink) of what the Cousins may or might not be doing in terms of “planning” their “possible” move to Atlanta. For example, look into potential residences, schools, and, of course, the opposing team member who wears your number eight.

“Well, if you’re going to stick with it, you do things like, you know, visit potential schools for your children or look for a house to buy. If you happen to find a house within ten minutes of the team facility, you can even start a conversation about purchasing it with, oh, I don’t know, the guy who wears your preferred number right now. I’m not claiming that things have transpired here, but those are the kinds of things that would suggest the Cousins family may be considering moving.

Florio is unable to state with certainty since tampering might result in consequences for both the Falcons and Cousins. However, it appears that Mike is implying that one piece of evidence that persuaded him that Kirk was most definitely leaving Minnesota was that he had gotten in touch with Kyle Pitts, who plays #8 for the Falcons at the moment.
