As the Falcons prepared for the NFL Draft, the league was still looking into allegations that Atlanta tampered with Kirk Cousins.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a decision on punishment may be made this week. With the league also investigating the Eagles for possible tampering, Schefter believes Atlanta’s punishment will be harsher.
Some feared that Mike Florio’s promotion of fan fiction about the Vikings and Falcons swapping first-round picks would have an impact on the Falcons’ first-round selection.
Fortunately, he has recovered his senses.Florio of NBC Sports anticipates the punishment.
“If history is any guide, the Falcons will receive a third-round pick as punishment for Cousins’ conversation with the head athletic trainer. If the Falcons are punished for all violations, they could face a much harsher punishment.”
Hopefully, Rich McKay can use his league connections to reduce the penalty, but it’s clear the Falcons don’t have to worry about the consequences for the 2024 NFL Draft.
According to Adam Schefter, the league is still looking into the tampering allegations against the Falcons and Eagles, and the investigation will not be completed this week.
The league’s review into tampering allegations against the Falcons and Eagles is ongoing and will not conclude this week, per the NFL.

I’d like to say a few things about the entire situation.
To begin, tampering with rules is ridiculous. Every team, player, and league does it. So what’s the big deal? The Falcons spent the entire time speaking with Cousins’ agent. Kirk Cousins did not sign with Atlanta because they approached him before the legal tampering period. Simply put, they had more money than Minnesota.
Second, the Falcons did tamper with Kirk Cousins, so don’t argue otherwise. The veteran quarterback admitted as much during his introductory press conference.
Third, what the hell is a veteran like Kirk Cousins doing by openly admitting to tampering?
