The Falcons’ possible trade price for L’Jarius Sneed is revealed

NFL: JAN 13 AFC Wild Card Dolphins at Chiefs

The Falcons need help at other positions as well, but finding a new quarterback will take up much of the media attention until a solution is found.

Zac Robinson is anticipated to implement a version of Sean McVay’s offense, which had more players (three wide receivers) than any other football offense in the previous season. There is an urgent need because Drake London is the only wideout under contract with any experience.

The cornerback room needs to be strengthened, even though receiver is in more urgent need of care. Projecting what Terry Fontenot and Raheem Morris perform at the position is crucial because the Falcons are anticipated to extend A.J. Terrell at some point during this summer.

Tony Pauline has brought up a few names before free agency, including L’Jarius Sneed.

Sneed was tagged by the Chiefs, although it is anticipated that he will not play on the tag. Either a long-term agreement is reached by the two parties, or Sneed is swapped. It is likely that the Chiefs would give priority to Chris Jones, so I don’t think we will see a Sneed deal.

Pauline reiterated that the Falcons are among the teams interested in acquiring the cornerback through trade.

According to Pauline, “the general consensus is that the Chiefs anticipate being without Sneed in 2024. Therefore, instead of losing him in free agency and then receiving a compensation pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they’ll try and get a better pick in return this April.””As of Wednesday morning, rumors suggested that the Atlanta Falcons, who were actively pursuing Sneed should he become a free agent, may make a trade for the cornerback.”

More recently, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer made some guesses regarding how much the Falcons or any other team interested in Sneed’s services could have to pay in a trade.

“That implies that L’Jarius Sneed, the star corner, will probably be dealt. Breer adds, “I’d bet he fetches himself a deal worth more than $20 million per year and gets the Chiefs a second-round pick.”

The Falcons can execute this trade because they have the draft capital and salary cap flexibility, but do they really want to sign two $20 million cornerback contracts simultaneously?

L’Jarius Sneed is a hell of a player and would give Atlanta an elite tandem at one of the most important positions in the game, but is he worth a second-round pick and a $20 million per year contract? These are the conversations that Terry Fontenot and Raheem Morris are having.
