Infielder Luis Guillorme, who played for the division rival New York Mets for the first six years of his career, was recently non-tendered this past winter and will start his first season with the Atlanta Braves.
Guillorme has established a reputation for himself as a versatile player throughout the course of his career by regularly seeing action at shortstop, second base, and third base.
The Braves are trying to assemble a team that can win the World Series for the second time since 2021, and Guillorme was just named one of Atlanta’s best-kept secrets ahead of the 2024 campaign by Bleacher Report.

Guillorme, who began last season in AAA, is hoping for atonement this season after having a rough year in which it seemed like nothing could go right for anyone in the Mets clubhouse. Guillorme was sidelined for a month in July due to a calf injury he sustained shortly after making his season debut in June. After returning, he was recovering from that calf injury and ended the season by slashing.224/.288/.327 with only nine runs scored.
Guillorme was a key component of a Mets squad that came dangerously close to unseating the Braves in the division in 2022. In 102 games played that year, Guillorme had an.273 average, 81 hits overall, and just 46 strikeouts.
Guillorme is one of the best second base players in baseball, with a lifetime fielding percentage of.996, in addition to possessing a keen eye at the plate and finding ways to get on base.
Guillorme has looked as impressive as anyone in the Braves clubhouse during his first spring training with the team. He is hitting 278/.350/.389 with two RBIs and two doubles in just 18 at-bats this spring, earning a spot on the team’s opening-day roster.
Guillorme is expected to have a successful rookie season with the Braves, so there may be plenty of opportunities for him to improve.
