Villa Can’t Keep Watkins -Fashanu

According to John Fashanu, a former striker for Aston Villa, Ollie Watkins will quit the team in the summer and the team won’t try to stop him.

After scoring 16 goals in 2022–2023 for Villa, Watkins has scored 22 goals in all competitions so far this season. Due to his impressive play, the striker has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England side on several occasions, most recently for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

Because of his current form, former Villa forward Fashanu feels confident that he will be joining a lot of major league teams in the summer.

“I think Ollie Watkins will be wanting to progress as a player and that could mean joining a different team from Aston Villa this summer,” Fashanu stated to luckyblock.com.

“And in that scenario, I don’t believe Aston Villa would want to stand in Ollie’s way and prevent him from moving on to further his career. Given his incredible play this season, he will undoubtedly be pursued by several major teams.

“Being the best player you can be is the aim in football, and I have no doubt that a major league team will pick him up this summer. Unfortunately, I don’t think Villa can keep him. If he wants to further his career, I’d love to see him at Chelsea the following season. That’s where I think he would fit in the best.”

“I think Ollie Watkins is as good as me as a striker, and that is one hell of a recommendation!” declared Fashanu.

“He’s doing fantastically. When discussing players at their previous clubs, it’s simple for former players to say, “Oh, he’s not so good.” However, the player in question is skilled and knowledgeable. He doesn’t play the game the same way I did, but he’s still a fantastic player, and I don’t say that very often.
