If Rangers adopt Kris Boyd’s Celtic transfer tactic, they run the risk of losing millions of dollars.

Kris Boyd claims that if Rangers follow Celtic’s transfer strategy, they could lose millions of pounds.

In its interim PLC report for the six months ending in December 2023, Celtic revealed a profit before taxes of £32 million on Friday, February 23, 2023.

On the other hand, Rangers added a few players during the January transfer window, which infuriated Celtic supporters.

Boyd stated in his column for The Scottish Sun on February 23 that he was in no way against Celtic’s “buy low, sell high” approach.

Although the Parkhead board has suffered in recent months, it has proven to be an effective model over time. The primary issue with that tactic is that one or two damaged windows might cause significant harm.

After winning the league a few years back, the Rangers discovered that to their detriment. They could have gained greater traction at home if they had included a few more high-quality pieces.

Yet, a couple poor transfer windows gave Celtic the opportunity to pass them once more on the home front. Ibrox saw a decline in performance as a result of some new acquisitions that didn’t help the team.

“Rangers will also utilize Celtic’s model, but millions can be lost if your scouting and judgment are off.”

Rangers’ transfer strategy was made evident in the January window, and now that they’ve prevailed in the battle of the spreadsheets, Celtic can plan the season’s finale open-top bus procession through Glasgow.

As Boyd suggests, earning money is nice and all, but what matters most is what you do with it after.

Although many of the underperforming players have now started to perform well under Philippe Clement, Rangers had a poor summer in terms of transfer activity.

Manager Philippe Clement of Rangers

At Rangers, Philippe Clement has led a fantastic comeback.
The Gers’ transfer strategy for the upcoming years is already evident: bring in some underappreciated players with potential to grow, Mohamed Diomande being a prime example.

Boyd thinks that kind of deal may backfire because he cost £4.5 million, but it’s evident that the club’s scouting network liked what they saw.

Under Nils Koppen, transfers are handled with a clear strategy, unlike under past regimes. It’s inevitable that some transfers may go bad, but in the upcoming windows, there will undoubtedly be more hits than misses.

In other Rangers news, a player who was cut by the team last year has since joined a new Scottish team.
