Moore and Sarmiento Train, Clarke a Doubt, But Williams Isn’t Back.

Prior to Saturday’s home match against Birmingham City, Harry Clarke is doubtful due to injury. Kieffer Moore and Jeremy Sarmiento trained today, while George Hirst is improving. However, Brandon Williams is still at Manchester United following a setback.

After leading his team to a 4-3 victory over Rotherham United on Tuesday, manager Kieran McKenna responded, “I think we’ve come through it pretty well.” Kieffer’s knee was not too bad; despite taking a hit to the knee, he was still able to workout today.

“Jeremy trained a portion of the session today, so there’s a chance he could be involved tomorrow. His hamstring was merely tightness, there was no injury, according to a scan.

Harry has been quite inhibited due to a rather significant dead leg, so we will have to wait until tomorrow to decide how much of a role he can play in the game.

“Aside from that, I believe everyone handled it quite well. There have been a lot of games lately. That did, I believe, come through in certain parts of the Tuesday night game, but it was also coming off of Wednesday through Saturday on an extremely heavy pitch with a lot of travel.

“We have two home games in a row, plus an extra day with the Tuesday-Saturday game. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood today, and I have no doubt that by tomorrow at three, Portman Road will be packed and the energy levels will be very high.”

Wes Burns, the Blues’ player of the match against the Millers, is a winger, and McKenna claims he’s alright despite landing on his shoulder after missing games earlier in the season due to a similar occurrence while with Wales: He is, in fact, OK. He fell on his shoulder, but it didn’t hurt.

Jack Taylor, a midfielder, is still out due to illness and a quad problem.

McKenna continued, “Jack has been sick for a few days, which has set him back a bit.” However, he’s not too far away and, if all goes well, he’ll exercise with the group in part the following week.

Williams returned to Old Trafford for an evaluation just after Christmas, and Town had thought that he would be back at the team a week or so ago, but the full-back is still with his parent club.

“We were hoping that would be the timeline, but he’s not training yet; he’s still at United due to a setback in his recovery,” McKenna stated.

Since he plays for them, we don’t know how long the setback will take, but it will take some time as he hasn’t even joined them on the field.

George Hirst, who hasn’t been able to play since the beginning of the year due to surgery for a ruptured hamstring, is doing well, according to McKenna. He’s still working out in the gym, hasn’t on the field yet, and is still on track to maybe be fit by the end of the season.
