After receiving his ninth Championship yellow card of the season during Birmingham City’s victory over Sunderland last weekend, Krystian Bielik is treading carefully when it comes to discipline.

Bielik will serve a further two-match suspension if he receives a second caution in any of the Blues’ remaining five games. This season, Bielik has already missed four games due to suspension. Following the 37th Championship game of the season, players who have received 10 yellow cards will no longer be suspended under the terms of the second yellow card amnesty.

The Blues play Ipswich Town, Southampton, Hull, Millwall, and Middlesbrough in their final five games before the amnesty. Bielik needs to hold off on booking until after the Middlesbrough match on March 12 in order to avoid receiving his third ban of the year.

After Tony Mowbray’s hiring, the 26-year-old has been moved from midfield to defense. However, he was sent out for five yellow cards prior to the first amnesty, which prevented him from playing against Sunderland in November. In addition, Bielik missed three games during the holiday season after receiving a straight red card in the Blues’ 3-3 draw with Plymouth Argyle.

Jordan James, Jay Stansfield, Juninho Bacuna, and Bielik are the players most in danger over the course of the next five games. Bacuna has received eight yellow cards and was suspended for the game against Southampton back in October. James and Stansfield each have seven.
