Steve Evans: Every week we learn to win together and lose together.

Manager Steve Evans talks about the outcome of the weekend, looks ahead to Wycombe on Saturday, and assesses Boro’s play-off push.

Pride Park’s 1-0 loss on Saturday was difficult to accept because a late goal destroyed the team’s momentum.

“We had the obvious opportunities, but their goalie made some really good saves,” stated Steve Evans.

“We had a clear penalty that was not given, and it’s fascinating that the PGMOL agrees once more. However, given the refereeing judgments made in recent weeks, I regret to report that this is now usual for us. Saturday was the most obvious day of the year, yet we still need to find the inner strength to accept those terrible choices and move on.

Stevenage is in seventh place in League One with 14 games remaining, one spot away from the play-offs with a game remaining.

“We are proving everyone wrong in many ways, as we were the favorites to be relegated both last season and this one. To accomplish what would be a gigantic feat, many people are needed.

“If we succeed, my team and players deserve all the recognition they will receive. Every member of the football team, including the Chairman, Board of Directors, and Leon Hunter, has a significant role to perform.

“I can’t say enough good things about the Academy, our women’s squad, the Foundation, and the club personnel. They are all true assets. The lifeblood of any football club is its supporters, the people of Stevenage and the neighboring villages and towns. They deserve a great deal of recognition.

It is crucial that we learn something new every week and celebrate our victories and defeats as a team.

By the end of February, Stevenage will have participated in seven League One games, and Steve Evans emphasizes the significance of concluding the month with a win.

“Everyone ought to review what I said at this same period last year. I stated that if we finish in the top three when we depart Rochdale on March 4th, we will automatically be promoted. I was validated.

When we depart Lincoln on March 2nd, we need to be in the running for a playoff berth this season. If so, I think we’ll get a postseason berth.

“Let me state this clearly: we will be promoted if we secure a postseason spot. We will have to contend with some incredible teams in the game, giants. While we have respect for each of those teams, we also have no fear of any.

Wycombe Wanderers will be Steve Evans’ team’s next opponent on Saturday at The Lamex.

The Gaffer said, “They are a really tough opposition who are in really good form.” They proved they are a very good team on Saturday by completely dominating Oxford United.

The boys will put in a lot of effort to get ready because we have a lot of work to accomplish this week. Although a number of our guys are having knocks, we have a fantastic team from which to choose.

More than ever, we are in need of our supporters.

“Our football team dreams of winning championships, just as I did when I joined Rotherham United in 2012.”

There are parallels everywhere you look. From League Two’s bottom to the championship through two consecutive promotions. We truly have a sense of unity and camaraderie, which is, of course, always supported by Phil Wallace.

“Let’s get to work, ladies and gentlemen, and see what we can accomplish. What we want to do is show them all wrong.
