After the game, Birmingham City manager Carter expressed his annoyance to the media over a possible lost chance to challenge Leicester City to the limit.

Carter stated, “I didn’t feel like we were at our best, and we are frustrated because we let the game slip away from us.”

We really struggled in the first half to execute our press and play out of possession. We made adjustments at halftime, and we were successful for the first ten to fifteen minutes of the second half. We had some opportunities, some corners, and most of our play was in their half.

“The game becomes somewhat transitional after the fourth goal, which was scored against the run of play, turned the tide in their favor. Another set-piece and a straight ball over the top have defeated us.”

“We are just disappointed in the way the goals were scored in a game where we thought we could have won if we had played better at certain points.”

Birmingham City wants to go back as soon as possible to the Barclays Women’s Super League. Carter continued by stating that ruthlessness is what separates the top tier from the Barclays Women’s Championship.

“You’ve witnessed the quality and the ruthlessness of a WSL team today,” he remarked. In the Championship, there are times when you might get away with anything, but in the WSL, they penalize you. Leicester has demonstrated their clinical play today.

Many of my players have been involved in WSL for a long time, but for the newer players, this is a useful learning resource.

“They displayed their vicious side today, and when we weren’t doing well, they were clinical.”

Birmingham City will return to action the following weekend when they welcome Southampton, a team that is vying for the Barclays Women’s Championship crown, at St Andrew’s.
