John Fleck, a midfielder for Sheffield United, has signed a contract with Blackburn that runs through the end of the season.

John Fleck has joined Blackburn on a free transfer from Sheffield United, the club confirmed.

After joining the Blades in 2016, the 32-year-old made over 250 league appearances for the team.

Fleck was a member of the Sheffield United team that helped the team advance from League One to the Premier League by winning back-to-back promotions in 2018 and 2019.

During Sheffield United’s 2018 Premier League promotion season, the midfield player made 26 appearances.

This season, Fleck has made four appearances in the Premier League, but only one start.

With a contract that runs through the end of the season, the Scotland international joins Blackburn.

Fleck was the eighth player signed by Blackburn during the January transfer window.

On the day of the deadline, Rovers also acquired Duncan McGuire from Orlando City and Billy Koumetio on loan from Liverpool.
