Birmingham City are up and running for the January transfer window after the capture of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Andre Dozzell on loan.

Dozzell has joined Blues for the remainder of the season to become Tony Mowbray’s first signing as manager. The 24-year-old has started 22 Championship games for QPR this season and made his Blues debut in the 2-1 win at Stoke City.

He was cup tied for the 3-0 loss at Leicester City but will be ready to feature – and potentially make his full debut at West Brom on Saturday.

Blues are still in the market for reinforcements and players could depart St Andrew’s before the end of the month. South Korean midfielder Paik Seung-ho is expected to arrive at some point this week.

Manager Tony Mowbray said on Saturday how much he is looking forward to working with the 26-year-old midfielder. ““He plays forward, shoots from distance, plays good passes, runs all day. I have managed South Koreans before, they are amazing human beings, individuals who graft and work, listen and want to get better. We are looking forward to him coming and hopefully help us move forward.”

A number of youngsters are in need of loan moves in the second half of the season, too. Right-siders Marcel Oakley and Josh Williams are two of the players Blues could loan out. Williams has only recently returned from a spell with League One side Cheltenham Town.

Midfielder Brandon Khela has already headed out on loan to Ross County. Having made two first team appearances for Blues this term, Khela is hoping to bag more senior experience in Scotland.
