Celtic are unlikely to welcome an influx of January signings after being dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage, sources have told Football Insider.

Celtic accelerate move for priority January signing - Sources

The Hoops’ European exit was confirmed on Tuesday (28 November) following the 2-0 away loss at Lazio.

Nevertheless, it is believed Brendan Rodgers’ side have the funds to get deals done should the right player become available in the winter window.

Celtic released their annual report last month (13 November), detailing a pre-tax profit of almost £41million in the 2022-23 campaign.

But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Parkhead club will not rush into any January deals.

Rodgers’ side experienced a big turnaround in the most recent summer window, with 10 signings coming in and 11 players departing.

Celtic will finish bottom of Group E in the Champions League, meaning they will not play any form of European football in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Hoops do not usually spend heavily in the January window and are not considering changing that stance due to their healthy lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

One potential incoming could be a new goalkeeper with current first-choice shot-stopper Joe Hart out of contract at the end of this season

Rodgers’ side sit eight points clear of rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership having played a game more than their bitter rivals.

The Hoops are next in action against St Johnstone on Sunday (3 December).
