In response to apprehension about Alex Pritchard’s future, Sunderland star Tony Mowbray has praised the player and hinted that things might “develop” for him before the transfer window ends.

The Birmingham City manager was making remarks in response to a statement made public by his previous team prior to today’s FA Cup loss against Leicester City. In an unprecedented move, Sunderland announced on their club website that Alex Pritchard had withdrawn from today’s matchday squad and told the club that he was no longer eligible for selection on Friday morning. This was in response to a contract dispute.

The midfield player also stated that he wanted to quit SAFC right now. The club has decided not to speak further at this time.

This occurred in the midst of rumors that Pritchard was heading to the Blues, and Mowbray showed his respect for a player who was a mainstay in the first team while he was manager on Wearside. Mowbray stated, “Let Sunderland go about their business and wait and see what happens in the next five days.”

“What I do know is that Alex Pritchard is a player with a fantastic dead ball skill set, amazing ball manipulation, and a personality and character. We’ll watch things unfold and see what happens. I think I shouldn’t be talking about him because he is not one of our players, but we’ll see how things work out over the course of the next four or five days.
