Left-back Jefte’s transfer to the Rangers is becoming closer, and this could have a significant impact on Ridvan Yilmaz’s future at Ibrox.

This transfer window, Philippe Clement has been searching for a left back and appears to have found his match in the Brazilian, who is presently on loan at APOEL in Cyprus from Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense. The manager has previously said that players would only be permitted to depart if a replacement could be found. Yilmaz and Borna Barisic’s futures are currently uncertain as the 20-year-old contract is scheduled to be shortened in order to enable a permanent move to the Scottish Premiership.

Yilmaz has struggled to find his best form in the Scottish Premiership since moving from Besiktas for £5 million back in 2022. Barisic’s contract expires in the summer, and he is free to speak with other clubs. Reports from Italy indicate that the Croatian international is already in negotiations with Serie A giants Roma. However, Clement has given the Turkish international a run of starts for the first time in his Gers career, demonstrating his faith in him.

But, given that Hellas Verona and Galatasaray are expected to make moves this month, his time at Govan may be coming to an end. According to the Daily Mail, Jeffre’s arrival is “expected to clear the way” for the 22-year-old to quit the club.
