The positions of the Knicks and Mavericks are comparable. The Mavs are now 24-18 and sixth in the West, while New York is 25-17 and in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Though they might both stand to gain from a move or two, both teams seem like strong competitors.

OG Anunoby was already acquired by the Knicks from the Toronto Raptors. Therefore, it makes sense to make a depth play, like trading for Gafford.

The Mavericks have not yet completed a significant trade. Although Dallas’ roster is already strong, injuries have regrettably played a part in

their 2023–24 campaign thus far. Although he recognizes the value of the Mavs keeping healthy, head coach Jason Kidd has faith in the team’s potential.

Having said that, New York and Dallas will need to make significant choices prior to the NBA trade deadline. Rumors are still circulating, so it will be interesting to see what decisions both organizations ultimately make.
