Which team, the Wizards or the Mavericks, will make a deal for?
Daniel Gafford, the center for the Washington Wizards, is apparently a target for both the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks, according to Matt Moore of Action Network.
Due to Mitchell Robinson’s injury, New York would seek to add more depth at center. Dallas has been connected to several NBA centers in an effort to bolster their depth behind Dereck Lively II. Of course, Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has also been linked to the Mavericks as a possible trade partner.
Similar positions for the Mavericks and Knicks before the NBA trade deadline
OG Anunoby was already acquired by the Knicks from the Toronto Raptors. Therefore, it makes sense to make a depth play, like trading for Gafford.
The Mavericks have not yet completed a significant trade. Although Dallas’ roster is already strong, injuries have regrettably played a part in
their 2023–24 campaign thus far. Although he recognizes the value of the Mavs keeping healthy, head coach Jason Kidd has faith in the team’s potential.
Having said that, New York and Dallas will need to make significant choices prior to the NBA trade deadline. Rumors are still circulating, so it will be interesting to see what decisions both organizations ultimately make.
