Following his decline from prominence among the Knicks, Quentin Grimes is attracting a lot of attention on the trade mark.
Following the Pascal Siakam trade, the New York Knicks appear to be among the most likely teams to acquire Bruce Brown in a trade. The franchise is still heavily involved in trade speculations. In the midst of all the speculation about the Knicks’ interest in Brown, Quentin Grimes, one of the team’s swingmen, is also starting to gain popularity.
Grimes is considered a strong fit for the Atlanta Hawks, who are looking to improve their perimeter defense around Trae Young in the case of a Dejounte Murray deal. Early reports have already indicated that the Dallas Mavericks have “expressed interest” in a trade for Grimes. Grimes appears to have more suitors than just those two clubs, though, as three more Western Conference teams are rumored to be interested in the 23-year-old.
“I believe that calls will keep coming in before the trade deadline of February 8th. I’ve been informed that the Hawks, Jazz, Rockets, and Memphis are among the teams that have specifically shown interest. Following the Knicks’ 113-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, Ian Begley of SNY stated that those are some of the teams that have shown interest in Grimes.
The Utah Jazz are clearly ripe for an upgrade on the wing; at the moment, Simone Fontecchio is playing the bulk of minutes at the three, and four guards who excel as ballhandlers share time at the one and the two. Quentin Grimes would be a hand-and-glove fit on the Jazz as a 3-and-D wing who doesn’t command many touches.
It will be intriguing to watch what the Grizzlies put in front of the Knicks to get their attention, but they might be seeking to make a fringe move in order to get ready for next season.
Whatever the case may be, Quentin Grimes and the Knicks appear headed for a divorce, with Grimes being in need of a change in scenery after losing his prominent role in the rotation.
