It seems that another coach lost his job as a result of the Ohio State Buckeyes hiring Bill O’Brien.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that O’Brien will replace Corey Dennis, who happens to be Urban Meyer’s son-in-law.
O’Brien was reportedly hired by Ohio State to be their offensive coordinator on Thursday night, according to reports. According to reports, O’Brien will call plays for the offense.
Dennis will not be returning to lead the Buckeyes’ quarterbacks, according to rumors, although Brian Hartline will remain as wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator.
Nicki, Meyer’s eldest daughter, was a volleyball player at Georgia Tech, where Dennis played wide receiver/defense back and special teams from 2011 to 2014. Dennis and Nicki are wed and parents of three kids. In 2015, Dennis was brought on as an intern for Meyer’s staff at Ohio State. After working his way up to quarterbacks coach, a role he has held since 2020, Day decided to keep him on staff.
Dennis coached C.J. Stroud’s quarterbacks during his tenure at Ohio State, and he also assisted former QBs Dwayne Haskins and Justin Fields.
What happens with Dennis next will be intriguing to see. The 31-year-old has a solid recruiting reputation and, in his coaching career, has assisted in the development of many successful quarterbacks.
