Report: €70 million-rated Barcelona captain attracts Man United

There aren’t many names at FC Barcelona anymore that can really be considered untouchable. As a team, the Blaugranes are not having a great time, and their performance reflects this. But Barcelona remains open to ideas, cognizant of their financial frailty.

Other European powerhouses have chosen to take advantage of this and start their own campaigns to entice certain players away from FC Barcelona. Ronald Araujo is one such celebrity that apparently has Bayern Munich very interested in him.

Furthermore, it appears that other teams are now vying for the Uruguayan defender with the Bavarian giants. More German rumors are now indicating a new suitor, according to SPORT. Manchester United, who play in the English Premier League, have now entered the competition to be the captain of Barcelona.

Indeed, it has been reported that United asked if Araujo may go during the current winter window. Bayern is rumored to have heard from Barcelona, but their reaction is still unambiguous. For less than €80 million, the Catalan powerhouses will not give up the defender.

But it’s not just the money that makes them reluctant to break up with the Uruguayan. Even the club has its reasons, even though the player himself is still dedicated to Barça and has stated openly that he does so despite the reports.

As was already mentioned, Barcelona views Araujo as untouchable. He is seen by them as a structural player, someone the squad can build around in the future together with Gavi and Pedri. Thus, other European heavyweights’ interest is futile, at least for the time being.

But like Bayern Munich, it appears Manchester United won’t let the Barcelona star go. In fact, they might make a comeback to try their luck once more in the summer of 2024 with the Bavarian giants.
