Manchester United and Bayern Munich are competing for Barcelona’s captain, who is valued at €70 million.

Ronald Araujo, the third captain and defender for FC Barcelona, has been strongly linked to a transfer to Bayern Munich in recent weeks.

Manager Thomas Tuchel and director Christoph Freund of the Bavarians have made the 24-year-old Uruguayan international a major goal.

Although the Bundesliga winners were willing to spend a significant amount of money to get Araujo during the current transfer window, a deal is now off the table. But they remain keen on the centre-half for the summer transfer window and would be willing to even shell out €100 million for him.

Manchester United joins the competition

But Manchester United has shown interest in signing Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo, so Bayern Munich is not the only team after him.

Araujo from Barcelona is reportedly of interest to Manchester United as well, according to reports from Sky Sports Germany (h/t iMiaSanMia).

According to the report, the Premier League team may have even inquired about signing the Uruguayan international, whose current market value is estimated to be €70 million.

Despite having one of his worst performances as a Barça player last night against Real Madrid, the defender is still a great player and has experience on his side, so it is not surprise that teams are interested in hiring him.

Right now, it seems quite improbable that Araujo will make a winter transfer, either to Bayern Munich or Manchester United.

He is still the top target for the German champions for the upcoming summer, though the Red Devils will probably fight hard to sign him as well.
