FOOTBALLLEAGUEWORLD VIDEO OF THE DAY
Josh Stokes, a star for Aldershot Town, is being pursued by a number of teams, including Ipswich Town, Norwich City, and Sunderland, TEAMtalk reports.
The attacking midfielder has been an immense asset for the National League side this term, not just contributing in the fifth tier but also in the FA Cup against a couple of League Two teams.
Registering 12 goals in 24 league appearances this term, this has allowed the Shots to remain in the promotion mix and that’s a big boost to a side that will no doubt be looking to return to the fourth tier of English football.
They have competed for promotion to League One before, so the Hampshire side are likely to be keen to get themselves back to EFL football sooner rather than later following a long absence.
That won’t be an easy task, though, and Stokes’ probable departure next month could make this assignment even more challenging.
They might become the victims of their own success in acquiring the 19-year-old, as the young player from AFC Sudbury is starting to show good value.
Only signing for Aldershot back in the summer, his contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2025, but the non-league side won’t want to lose him for free and a sale seems inevitable in the next one or two windows.
