Glenn Danzig Announces Long-Awaited Return to the Studio for Final Misfits Album
In a thrilling turn of events for punk and metal fans alike, Glenn Danzig has officially announced his return to the studio—this time to work on what he’s calling the “final” Misfits album. The news broke during a surprise appearance at a fan convention in Los Angeles, where Danzig confirmed that he and original bassist Jerry Only have reconciled creatively and are collaborating for one last ride.
“It’s the right time,” Danzig said, “Fans have been asking for it for decades—and if we’re gonna go out, we’re gonna go out in blood-red style.”
The album, tentatively titled Twilight of the Fiends, is expected to fuse the classic horror punk energy of the early Misfits with the darker, doomier tones of Danzig’s solo work. Longtime fans are speculating the record may include reworked versions of unreleased tracks from the vaults, as well as brand-new material that revisits the band’s original gritty roots.
Recording is slated to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with a release date eyed for Halloween 2025—exactly 45 years after the band’s debut single, Cough/Cool. In true Misfits fashion, the album will be accompanied by limited-edition vinyl pressings, exclusive artwork, and a short but intense farewell tour across major cities.
While Danzig has previously suggested he might step away from recording new music altogether, this unexpected announcement has sent waves through the punk community. Social media erupted within minutes of the reveal, with fans and musicians alike sharing their excitement for what may become a historic final chapter.
If Twilight of the Fiends truly marks the end, it’s already shaping up to be the ultimate sendoff for one of punk rock’s most iconic legacies.
