Profitable venture for all involved
Edgar is absolutely correct. Silva arrived from Portugal in 2020 as a huge prospect, but according to BBC Sport, he has never lived up to his reported £35.6 million price tag.
His previous season was played on loan at Anderlecht, where he finished with 11 goals and 4 assists in 32 games. He then played the second half of the season at PSV Eindhoven, where he finished with 5 goals and 2 assists in 19 games.
Despite making ten appearances for Wolves this season, Silva has only started three games in the Premier League and has not yet contributed a goal.
It will be very tough for the young forward to live up to the standards set by Sima, who is currently on loan from the top division of English football. But it will be crucial that he grows and regains some confidence for the benefit of all concerned.
This season, Philippe Clement is having trouble deciding on a starting striker. Danilo is also injured, and Kemar Roofe’s season has been marred by injuries. He was recently sidelined once more.
