Sakira, the renowned Colombian singer and philanthropist, has long been dedicated to improving education for underprivileged children. ugh her Pies Descalzos Foundation, established in 1997, she has built multiple schools across Colombia, providing education and meals to thousands of children. Hemmitment to education has been recognized globally, earning her accolades such as the Hero Award at the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards.
In September 2023, Shakira inaugurated thevo Bosque-Pies Descalzos school in Barranquilla, her hometown. This state-of-the-art facility spans 6,000 square meters and is designed to accommodate proximately 1,000 students annually, offering K-12 education. The school also serves as a community ce, providing development spaces for parents and caregivers. Shakira expressed her gratitude to the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, the FC Barcelona Foundation, and the LCI Educatial Foundation for tisupport in realizing this project.
