“I think the manager likes me” – Gers could have surprise festive hero, he’s explained long-term absence

In certain sections of the field, Rangers are in desperate need of a win, so Philippe Clement is depending on players—like Kieran Dowell—who might not otherwise get a chance to play.

The summer acquisition appeared to be settling in during preseason as he was a frequent fixture until Michael Beale benched him, and he was not seen until midweek.

With John Lundstram suffering another injury at Ibrox, the Rangers are short-handed and the manager may ask Kieran Dowell to play again.

Rangers may need to rely on Dowell, Kieran.

Dowell, who tried to break the lines with forward passing, was one of our better players and was very orderly against St Johnstone.

Specifically, one to Cyriel Dessers merely required the striker to have a better touch to put him in on goal.

Though it wasn’t entirely executed correctly, the premise was sound.

Prior to the Rangers’ brief trip to Fir Park to play Motherwell, Kieran Dowell has discussed his present level of fitness and the reason he hasn’t been seen much recently.

“The manager seems to think well of me as a player,” The problem was that I was trailing a couple players in the positions where I prefer to play.

“I wish I could play consecutive games.” I’ve been putting a lot of effort into my training to ensure that I’m healthy enough to perform the whole 90 minutes when needed. There are a lot of games coming up, so the team will be pushed thin.

We need a passer in the middle of the field, and Dowell is the best player on the team who fits manager Philippe Clement’s approach.

He points out that the Rangers’ recent success and strong play are the issue.

The other is that John Lundstram can only play one position because he is a lock to start.

Jose Cifuentes and Ryan Jack were selected in the past when they were fit, despite not being included in the Europa League roster; it made sense to start the players who could develop a rapport with Lundstram.

Kieran Dowell will now have the opportunity to demonstrate to the team that he wants to stay and that he can provide something lasting, though, as Rangers play four games in ten.

If not, he will quickly find himself back at the bottom of the hierarchy.
