It will have to wait until Kareem Jackson returns to the field.

Prior to their game against the New England Patriots on Sunday night, the Broncos chose to employ the 35-year-old safety’s one-game exemption after he was reinstated from a four-game ban.

For the first time since the league opted to punish him for his hit on Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs in Week 10, Jackson was back on the field this week. According to defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, Jackson was working to get back into football shape on Thursday.

Denver can add him to the roster up until Monday.

The Rockies want to increase pitching

P.J. Locke, a safety, will continue to start alongside Justin Simmons in Jackson’s absence. During Jackson’s suspension, Locke recorded 26 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Denver also promoted quarterback Ben DiNucci and outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins off the practice squad. With second-year outside linebacker Nik Bonitto out for the second week with an MCL injury, Perkins should provide depth on the edge.

This is DiNucci’s third promotion of the season; the first two came from Denver’s practice squad, and he did not play.

Brian Branch, a defensive back for the Detroit Lions, was fined $8,103 for helmet-hitting Broncos tight end Adam Trautman during the first quarter of last week’s game. On the field, Branch’s hit was not penalized.
