Michael Stewart allegedly shouted “anti-Rangers” statements during the Viaplay Cup final, according to former Aberdeen defender Lee Mair.
The former Pittodrie center back attacked Stewart’s match analysis, calling it “embarrassing” for an Aberdeen supporter to listen to.
Stewart co-commented with former Rangers full-back Alan Hutton during the pivotal Hampden final, with Rory Hamilton serving as the primary pundit.
Mair, however, was not impressed with Stewart and Hutton’s back-and-forth and advocated for “neutral commentators”.
Mair’s first post on X, the previous Twitter, said: “What is the plan for the commentary with M. Stewart and A. Hutton?
What is the commentary script with M. Stewart and A. Hutton?
All game, MS was making fun of the Rangers, and AH was defending them.🤦🏻♂️It was awful to hear as an Aberdeen supporter watching; who knows what the Rangers supporters were thinking!
Surely there ought to be unbiased commentators?

“MS taunting Rangers the entire game while AH defends them.🤦🏻♂️
“God only knows what the Rangers fans felt, and it was embarrassing to hear as an Aberdeen supporter watching!
“Surely should be neutral commentators?”
Mair responded, “Arguing like little school kids on tv for a national cup final,” to a reply that addressed the commentary. It is embarrassing to hear.”

As he chastised the discussion, Mair even implied that Stewart was “anti-Rangers with all his comments”.
“Yes, Hutton is good,” he continued. My argument was that because MS was so anti-Rangers in all of his remarks, he had to defend the team every two minutes.”
James Tavernier’s goal in the second half of the match at the national stadium gave Rangers a 1-0 victory, and Rangers raised the Viaplay Cup trophy.
