Four days after Forest Green Rovers’ defeat at the hands of MK Dons, the club fired manager David Horseman.
Thanks to goals from Max Dean and Jack Payne on Saturday at Stadium MK, Rovers fell to 23rd place in League Two.
After the club’s elimination from League One, Horseman, who took over at the New Lawn at the beginning of the season, has only won six of the 27 games played so far this season, losing sixteen of them.
Rovers’ 3-0 FA Cup elimination against League One Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night was the last straw for owner Dale Vince, who made the decision on Wednesday.
Troy Deeney, a former striker for Watford who participated in the entire match at Stadium MK, will take over as the new permanent manager. This will be his first managing position.
Deeney expressed his happiness and honor at being named the new head coach.”I anticipate a lot of questions from the fans, and I promise to respond as quickly as I can. We’ll be upfront and truthful every step of the way and won’t run away from the task at hand.”
