Celtic issue response after ‘grossly unfair’ Rangers statement to Tuesday news

Regarding the distribution of away tickets for the forthcoming Old Firm game between the two teams, Celtic has responded to Rangers.

According to Sky Sports’ report on December 19, there won’t be any Rangers fans present during the match on December 30 at Celtic Park.

The article also stated that, even though Celtic won a case before an SPFL board subcommittee that determined their policy of offering no tickets was irrational, a suitable amount could not be determined.

“We are pleased that the sub-committee recognised the importance of safety and matchday experience issues in considering the question of a reasonable allocation for both fixtures,” according to the official Celtic website (19 December).

“While respecting the ongoing process, Celtic stands by its decision not to allocate any tickets for away supporters for the match on December 30th.

“Celtic will continue to focus on the importance of safety and matchday experience issues as we look to address reasonable allocations at Celtic Park and Ibrox from next year, in a responsible manner.”

Disappointing

Fans of both Rangers and Celtic, regardless of which team they root for, will be disappointed by this news because their teams will surely make this historic matchup much more thrilling.

The players would much prefer be playing in front of an energetic and lively stadium, and the same is true.

But when the two rivals square off at Celtic Park at the end of the month, that won’t happen again.

That will be a setback for Philippe Clement as well, as the Rangers manager is getting ready for his first Old Firm derby and would have wanted to have the support of a few Gers supporters inside Celtic Park.

According to the official Rangers website (December 19), Celtic’s failure to provide the Sub-Committee with adequate documentation about the appropriate amount of tickets is “grossly unfair.”

All Clement and his team need to do is put the matter behind them and head to Celtic Park with a winning mentality.
