‘Set piece disaster’… Pundit says Celtic need to replace £1m player who is ‘trouble’ at corner kicks

Celtic have been told that they have a player they need to replace who is a liability at set pieces.Joe Hart has been found wanting in recent weeks as mistakes against Motherwell and recently, Hearts have cost the club dearly in Celtic’s defence of the Scottish Premiership.

Hart’s inability to command his six-yard box has been brought sharply into focus once again after his positioning looked suspect at the Hearts free kick that saw the Edinburgh side go 2-0 up at Celtic Park.

And pundit, Hugh Keevins, has called on the club to look at replacing him.

Keevins said [Clyde SSB], “He’s a set piece disaster now. Every time there’s a corner kick, there’s trouble.

“Because he never leaves his line, he’s all over the place.

“But in the summertime when I and others suggested that Celtic should get another goalkeeper in, ‘Oh no, no, Joe Hart’s fine.’

“Joe Hart is not fine.”

Whilst Joe Hart has been an excellent ‘keeper for Celtic, it is undeniable that his form has been yo-yo-ing this season.

The £1m player is just as susceptible of making a mistake as he is at pulling off a world-class save and the Celtic fans have seen this on numerous occasions this season.

However, he is 36 now. Hart can’t go on forever. Celtic must be looking at bringing in a long-term replacement because looking at how he’s performing this season, it’s abundantly clear the former England international will not be consistent enough to perform week in, week out next season.

Who do Celtic want to replace Joe Hart?

Right now, Celtic have Scott Bain and Ben Siegrist at the club. With neither showing the necessary quality to get close to even challenging Hart, it is clear that the club do need to look at bringing in reinforcements in that area.

Caoimhin Kelleher was linked with a move to Celtic in the summer but despite chat surrounding a possible move to Parkhead, nothing ever developed from those rumours.

Andriy Lunin was another who was touted for a possible move but recent developments suggest that a Chelsea move may be more likely for the Ukrainian international.

Whoever Celtic decides on they need to do it quickly because with Hart’s contract expiring at the end of the season and no offer in sight, Rodgers’ team will be considerably weakened if they can’t find a suitable replacement.
