Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl may be rubbing his palms at Bayern Munich’s newest update.

Sheffield Wednesday are in need of fresh players during the summer transfer window.

The Owls face uncertain futures for Rohl and other first-team players.

Barry Bannan and Josh Windass are out of contract but in talks, while Lee Gregory and George Byers’ summer departures are already confirmed.

However, Wednesday are being connected with potential new players, indicating that the club is forging ahead with their summer transfer ambitions.

The latest update from Bayern Munich may impact Hillsborough’s transfer ambitions.

Hansi Flick is in negotiations about returning to Bayern Munich.

Hansi Flick, Rohl’s previous manager, is apparently in talks for a spectacular comeback to Bayern Munich this summer.

Rohl was previously Flick’s No. 2 at Munich before the two moved to lead the German national squad in 2021.

Flick has been out of job since 2023. He visited Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this year and saw the Owls beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 in the Championship.

Rohl has maintained communication with Flick, who may transfer the development of Bayern Munich young players to Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday if he takes over the German club this summer.

Can Sheffield Wednesday seriously sign Bayern Munich players on loan?

A move from Bayern Munich to Sheffield Wednesday would be a significant change, especially given the Owls’ current state of flux.

The club is making many excellent changes off the pitch, but they still have a lot of rebuilding to do this summer, as well as reaffirming Rohl’s future.

However, clubs frequently send their young players out on loan around the end of the summer, after they have structured their first-team.

So, if Sheffield Wednesday can prepare for the 2024/25 season sooner rather than later, they will be in a position to offer themselves to teams such as Bayern Munich as a venue for their younger players to come and receive first-team experience.

Playing under Rohl has brought out the best in practically every Sheffield Wednesday player this season, with youngsters such as James Beadle, Di’Shon Bernard, Djeidi Gassama, and others thriving.

So Rohl appears to have that ability with players, particularly younger ones, and Flick will be well aware of what his Bayern youngsters would receive in terms of training and playing style if he sent them to Sheffield Wednesday to play under Rohl.

The two clubs may be very similar in that regard, so enabling younger players to leave and gain experience with Wednesday might be beneficial in terms of developing them in the way that Bayern desires.

Of course, that is dependent on Flick first moving to Bayern and then Sheffield Wednesday being in a position to realistically bring in some of the club’s younger players for the coming season, even if they are from their reserve squad.

On paper, it may appear farfetched, yet it is not impossible.
