West Ham’s £85 million release clause for Mohammed Kudus is not activated until 2025, therefore potential purchasers will have to wait until next summer to initiate a deal.

Claret and Hugh found the Ghanaian’s contract clause earlier this morning, but it was unclear when the option could be used. Unfortunately, there is nothing to prevent a team from bidding for Kudus during the summer transfer window, though it is expected that the club will reject any bids, including those above the buyout figure.

The arrangement is similar to that of Lucas Paqueta, who has a clause that allows any team offering £85 million to negotiate with him and his representatives starting July 1st.

Liverpool is reportedly interested in Kudus, seeing the Hammers forward as a potential replacement for Mo Salah, who is slated to join the Saudi Pro League. To be successful in a transfer deal for Kudus, Liverpool would need to pay the majority of the £130 million they expect to receive for Salah.
