Derby County Tipped To Land £260K-Rated League One Gem

Derby County is favored to secure Celtic midfielder Bosun Lawal, who has impressed during his loan stint with Fleetwood Town despite the club’s relegation to England’s fourth tier.

Lawal, previously with Watford, joined Celtic in 2021 after the Bhoys fended off interest from clubs like Chelsea. Following two years in Celtic’s academy, he signed a three-year deal and was loaned to Highbury.

The deal with Fleetwood materialized largely due to Scott Brown, Celtic’s former captain, serving as head coach. However, Brown’s tenure was short-lived as he was relieved of his duties early in the season.

Despite Fleetwood’s challenging season, Lawal showcased his talent, earning praise from head coach Charlie Adam, who remarked on Lawal’s potential for a successful career.

During his loan spell, the 20-year-old midfielder made 42 League One appearances, scoring six goals and providing two assists, significantly increasing his market value.

Several clubs, including Derby County, Portsmouth, and Queens Park Rangers, have shown interest in Lawal ahead of the summer transfer window. Sheffield Wednesday legend Carlton Palmer recommended Derby County due to Paul Warne’s reputation for nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for growth. Palmer highlighted the significant jump from League One to Celtic’s level and suggested that another loan spell or a permanent move could be on the horizon for Lawal.
