Despite playing in a key match near the bottom of the table, Sheffield Wednesday was not chosen for television coverage on the last day. The Owls will compete for Championship survival against Sunderland this Saturday, following a victory against West Brom the previous weekend.

Danny Rohl’s team only needs a point to ensure safety this weekend, but they may still win if Birmingham City or Plymouth Argyle lose. Fans who cannot attend the game at the Stadium of Light will be unable to see it live on television.

Sky Sports have chosen three separate games to show on the final day. Both Leeds United’s match against Southampton and Ipswich Town’s match against Huddersfield Town will be shown, as the automatic promotion fight is still ongoing.

Sky Sports has also chosen a defining relegation encounter between Birmingham City and playoff-bound Norwich City. Goal updates for the Wednesday game will be provided during the broadcast. The decision should come as no surprise, given that two teams are now more certain to be demoted than Wednesday.

It is unclear whether Sky Sports will be able to show the goals from the Wednesday game, as well as the other relegation fixtures, during their Saturday broadcasts, but they will undoubtedly show score updates from around the division to keep viewers informed about which teams require what to survive.
