Oklahoma football keeps the fire burning with two more Sooners picked in the final rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft!

When the curtain fell on the drama-filled three days of the 2024 NFL Draft, three Oklahoma football stars had earned their tickets to the annual Player Selection Meeting.

Tyler Guyton, an offensive tackle, led the charge as the first Sooner chosen, snagged at the 29th spot overall in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys. The following day, the draft’s final rounds unveiled the names of two more Sooners.

Walter Rouse, another offensive tackle, found his new home with the Minnesota Vikings as the 177th pick in the sixth round. Jonah Laulu, a defensive tackle, was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts as the 234th overall pick, closing out OU’s selections in this draft.

Guyton and Rouse now join the ranks of 12 other Oklahoma offensive linemen drafted since 2015, a testament to the stellar work of coach Bill Bedenbaugh in grooming top-tier talent for the NFL.

As for the prospects of additional 2024 OU NFL Draft picks beyond Tyler Guyton, it remains to be seen. However, the fact that all three 2024 draftees began their college journeys elsewhere before transferring to Oklahoma speaks to the program’s appeal.

This year’s draft may mark a departure from the norm for the Sooners, who had seen at least four players picked in each of the past 16 seasons. Nonetheless, the undrafted talents from Oklahoma wasted no time in pursuing their Plan B as free agents.

WR Drake Stoops signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Rams.

DL Rondell Bothroyd signed free-agent contract with the Buffalo Bills.

DL Isaiah Coe, FA contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

OL McKade Mettauer, FA contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Andrew Raym, FA contract with the Carolina Panthers.
