Ibrox Exclusive: Three teams vying to capture the 27-year-old Everton player scheduled for a January loan

Mason Holgate, an Everton defender on loan, is being chased by Rangers, Middlesbrough, and Watford in January, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.

In order to get the center back playing more frequently, Everton is eager to end his loan and find him a new team in January.

Watford, Middlesbrough, and Rangers are rumored to be extremely interested in Holgate and to have been informed of the potential of a January transfer.

Ever since joining Southampton in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan, the center back has only started four games for the Championship team.

Out of the four games that the England Under-21 international has started, only one has been won by Russell Martin’s team.

Holgate, who reportedly makes £70,000 a week at Goodison Park, will see his Everton contract expire in June 2025.

After fighting for playing time once more, he made just nine appearances in all competitions the previous season. As a result, he will likely join another second-tier team in January.

Since joining Everton in 2015, Holgate has made 149 appearances overall for the team, coming from Barnsley.

Rangers

Rangers sit second in the Scottish Premiership and could proceed to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a win over Real Betis on Thursday (14 December).

Middlesbrough and Watford are both hovering close to a play-off place in the Championship despite a miserable start to the 2023-24 campaign for the two sides.
