Another Big Loss as Leeds Put 5 Past Derby

Leeds United Under-18s extended their winning streak with an impressive 5-0 triumph over Derby County at Thorp Arch on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite a strong start from Derby, Leeds seized control in the second half, netting four goals unanswered to secure a commanding victory on their home turf.

Early on, Derby had promising opportunities with Johnson Osong and Justin Oguntolu narrowly missing headers. However, Leeds gradually gained momentum, with Connor Douglas unable to convert a cross from Coban Bird.

Just before halftime, Oliver Pickles broke the deadlock with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box, giving Leeds the lead.

After the break, Harvey Vincent, who replaced Joe Billett, wasted no time doubling Leeds’ advantage with a clinical volley. Harry Gray extended the lead further with a goal from the edge of the box, followed by another goal shortly after, courtesy of Vincent’s assist.

Gray completed his brace with a precise finish into the top corner. Despite missing a chance for a hat-trick, Josh McDonald sealed Leeds’ victory with a fifth goal.

In the dying moments, Derby was awarded a penalty, but Rory Mahady’s save maintained Leeds’ clean sheet. The win elevates Leeds to fourth place in the U18 Premier League North standings, ahead of their upcoming clash with Manchester City on Saturday.
