Manchester City are apparently reverting to the plan of buying Lucas Paquetá from West Ham United.

That’s reported today by Fichajes, who believe that following an effort last summer, which was prevented by an inquiry into the midfielder’s gambling past, Pep Guardiola’s team will try again.

According to the story, the ‘salary agreement’ that Manchester City and Paquetá had last summer ‘still stands’. That means it’s now up to the triple champions to make a deal with West Ham, which they may not be too thrilled about.

Paquetá is presently valued by Transfermarkt at €65m. Since he still has a contract with the Hammers running until 2027, with an option for an additional year, it’s extremely probable they’ll demand more than that to let him go.
The gambling investigation hasn’t been concluded yet, but since both West Ham and Brazil comfortably have him playing for their squads, Manchester City now look more convinced about the signing.

Fichajes discusses the very fine season Paquetá has been having for West Ham, emphasizing the reasons why Guardiola’s team haven’t forgotten about him in all these months after last year’s hunt.
