‘Something is going to explode’ – Robbie Fowler urges West Ham star to apologise after incident

Robbie Fowler says Kalvin Philips ought to apologize for what he did after West Ham United lost to Newcastle United

The Englishman’s situation hasn’t been great since moving on loan to the London Stadium in January.

All of this culminated when he cursed at Hammers supporters after giving up a penalty in Newcastle’s 4-3 defeat.

In a column for the Sunday Mirror, former Liverpool striker Fowler discussed the England international (page 69, 7 April).

Regarding that, he stated: “Kalvin Phillips ought not to have responded to the slap he received upon boarding the West Ham team bus following the team’s 4-3 loss to Newcastle last Saturday. Come on, though, give him a break. Phillips witnessed the nightmare that followed his ideal relocation from Leeds to Manchester City. The same has happened to his loan at the London Stadium.

The boy is only human, so something was bound to go wrong. Naturally, a fan had their phone ready to record the action in 4k HD. Can he offer an apology? Yes, even though it was only for a brief moment, he acted in an unprofessional manner for someone who works in the field. However, allow Phillips to continue working on reviving his career.

Is Kalvin Phillips someone West Ham United should sign long-term?
Given that Phillips cost £42 million when he was signed by Manchester City [Sky Sports], a move to East London would not be inexpensive.

When the former Leeds player joined the Hammers on loan in January, it seemed like a perfect fit, but thus far, everything has just gone wrong.

Despite a general lack of playing time since joining the Etihad, the Englishman still has some encouraging fundamental statistics.

According to Fbref, he averages 88.20% accuracy and records 72.44 passes per 90. He is therefore helpful in maintaining the pace and flow of play in the park’s middle.

Certain defensive stats stand out and may be advantageous in the future. His 2.11 tackles won, 1.05 interceptions, and 1.87 aerial duels per game suggest that he could be helpful in a double-pivot scheme.

Even though these figures might be interpreted favorably, West Ham would not want to take the chance on paying Phillips’ transfer fee.

It might be a wise move if a discounted price could be reached to share some of the risk, but if not, he will be too costly.
