PORTLAND — Dwight Powell collided with Kyrie Irving, injuring his right foot, during the second quarter of the Dallas Mavericks’ 125-112 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The starting NBA All-Star for the current season was declared out of the game.
Irving’s condition will be further disclosed before to the Mavs’ Monday night game against the Memphis Grizzlies. According to reports, he will soon get an MRI as part of an additional assessment.
The BlazersTV broadcast said that Irving had departed the arena in a wheelchair before the Mavericks released an official statement regarding the injury, which sparked a social media frenzy.Coach Jason Kidd refuted rumors that All-Star guard Irving had departed Moda Center when asked whether he had.
“Isn’t all reporting inaccurate? Should we all accept it as true? Kidd remarked, “I believe he hasn’t left the building, but I’m not here to question you. “He’s still here.”
Tim Hardaway Jr. called the play that resulted from Irving’s injury “scary,” and he also emphasized how the squad adopted a “next man up” approach in order to keep winning by playing well.
