Notes and news about the Atlanta Braves for Saturday.
Spencer Strider narrowly avoided going without a point in the spring, and Sam thoroughly examined Jarred Kelenic’s forthcoming campaign. Strider was outstanding throughout the spring and was so productive in the three innings he was supposed to pitch that he decided to pitch one more inning, forfeiting the enjoyable but pointless accomplishment of a scoreless spring. Even though it’s only spring, Spencer has added a curveball to his already excellent arsenal this spring, making him seem ready to dominate major league hitters for another season. If he can stay healthy and avoid some of the bad luck that hurt his ERA last year, this could be the year he wins his first Cy Young award. Opening Day is when we’ll see him pitch next! Celebrate!
