Taylor is realistically hoping to qualify for the Euros, but he knows it’s not guaranteed and that he needs to continue improving at the club level.
In an attempt to obtain briefs for the Euros next summer, Greg Taylor has his fellow Tartan Army members on the phone. However, the Celtic star is just interested on the ticket for the Scotland squadron flight to Germany.
The full back was a member of the team that participated in the most recent COVID-19 European Championship on home soil and is a mainstay in Steve Clarke’s squad.Taylor filled in at the previous international tournament when Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney were sidelined due to injuries, and he is keen to play in the major tournament in June after Scotland’s thrilling tie against the host nation, Hungary and Switzerland.
Although the defender is one of Clarke’s greatest favorites, he understands he must continue to perform well for the Hoops in order to ensure that his friends do not leave for Germany without him. A few people have already attempted to get tickets from me, but I’ve been given the strong directive that I must try to concentrate on my club and join the squad before I arrange for any tickets, according to Taylor.
“To be a part of the Euros is a truly wonderful time for the country. For the last one, I was able to make the squad, and I would really like to be in Germany for the next one. It has an incredible pull. At the Allianz, it will be in front of 80,000 people. This will be no ordinary game. Thousands of the Tartan Army will be present over there. Although I’m not sure what the statistics will be, I can assume they’ll be high. For the boys that get to be there, it will be a true honor.
Taylor acknowledged that the idea of packed stadiums in Germany is exciting following the previous time’s diluted experience due to the virus. There’s also the incredible chance to go to the knockout stages and go farther than any Scotland team in history.
“It will be full, packed out stadiums and that’s what you want,” Taylor declared. The previous time the games were held in Hampden was so special, but this time, taking the Tartan Army overseas in their millions, will be even more special. It is going to seem like a truly unique occasion. We wish to do more than simply show up, play three group games, and leave. The lads have a lot of responsibility if we want them to advance inside the group. It’s also critical to acknowledge that this is a challenging group. The entire country will support Germany, who is the host nation. Recently, Hungary has achieved some impressive results, while Switzerland is a true elite squad.
Not that he needs one at Celtic, but Taylor disclosed that securing a seat on the plane will be a big motivator. “Deep down, it will definitely be there,” he stated. It’s not far off now; it’s just around the corner.
“The decision will be swiftly taken away from you if you are not playing well and on a regular basis. Therefore, it’s imperative that you maintain a relatively narrow focus at this time.
Despite having a cold this week, Taylor has put himself out there for tomorrow’s match against Kilmarnock, proving that it’s never a good idea to back down. The left defender won’t allow the sniffles stop him from playing against his old team this weekend, even after he was substituted off in the 4-1 victory over Hibs on Wednesday.
“I feel a lot better,” Taylor stated. It worked after a day of staying home and taking paracetamol every four hours. Getting through it the other night was a terrific experience. Thankfully, we were positioned comfortably, allowing me to take a little nap.
It was good to get off and be ready for Sunday because being under the weather increases your risk of injury. Although it’s a busy time, the players are in a good situation. Being able to represent this club every day is an enormous honor. You must seize the chance as there are many people who would welcome it out there in the bitter cold.
Killie eliminated Celtic from the Viaplay Cup earlier in the season, and the Hoops team is still shaken by that setback.
At the time, Brendan Rodgers’ team was dealing with injuries and adjusting to a new structure, but Taylor thinks the Parkhead team is a different team now.
Despite going undefeated in the league, the Celtics’ season hasn’t been without its challenges.
“Since then, we’ve made a lot of progress,” Taylor countered. This was a brand-new team that was still developing its concepts.
We want to keep building on our better domestic position. This season has been a building stage thus far, and we’ve gotten better little by little.
