This summer, West Ham will be looking to add a striker to their roster.
And there’s a connection to one of the deadliest Premier League players.
There was no question last summer that the Hammers needed to buy a striker, with Gianluca Scamacca having been traded after only one season and the aging Michail Antonio approaching his last season at West Ham.
However, David Moyes chose to employ Jarrod Bowen as a striker, content with what he had.
Results from Moyes’ Bowen striker experiment are conflicting.
Results have been inconsistent, and Bowen has shown that he provides more on the right.
After spending £15 million to go from Villa to West Ham, Danny Ings has just not clicked.
Even after Ings’ incredible display against Burnley, the manager acknowledged that the aging forward’s all-around skill isn’t contributing enough to the club.
According to a writer, West Ham has now been given the go-ahead to recruit a Premier League striker with 138 goals, whose club is reportedly eager to sell.

Dean Jones reports that Newcastle are looking to sell long-time Hammers target Callum Wilson.
In a new exclusive he says West Ham are one of Wilson’s potential landing spots.
“Newcastle United face a decision over Callum Wilson this summer, with his contract due to expire in 2025…” Jones reports on SportsLens.
“West Ham United and Bournemouth could emerge as potential landing spots for the striker, who is currently sidelined through injury…
“Newcastle are having to be open-minded about player exits this summer and are likely to be more open to losing Wilson than fellow forward Alexander Isak.”
Some of West Ham’s Premier League rivals are also said to be interested.
Hammers should avoid new Ings mistake
The problem is this is a deal that reeks of Ings and is one West Ham should avoid.
Wilson is a proven goalscorer, yes.
But at 32 and seriously injury prone, it would surely represent bad business for the Hammers.
Not to mention the fact Wilson does not fit the profile of player technical director Tim Steidten will be looking to bring to the London Stadium.
West Ham should be looking to sign a young, all-action, pacy striker like a Victor Boniface.
We all know what the only real benefit to signing Wilson would be. Stopping him scoring his obligatory goals against the Hammers every time he faces them.
